Figured out I've been holding book club discussions ALL wrong for 2 years

I always let people talk about whatever chapter they wanted first, then I'd jump in with my opinion last. Last Tuesday, someone called me out and said I was basically just summarizing everyone else's takes instead of starting fresh conversation. Has anyone else realized their discussion style is just gatekeeping the group?

All wrong" hits hard because I did the same thing for months before someone gently told me I was just repeating their points.

Gently telling someone doesn't always work though. Sometimes you need to hear it straight up to actually get it.
