Steel mill boiler stopped giving us grief after a simple fix

We've been battling this one boiler for weeks, with leaks popping up every time we thought it was sealed. The foreman was starting to hover, which is never a good sign. Yesterday, I suggested we just back off the torch heat a tiny bit on the final pass. Fired it up this morning, and it held pressure without a single drip. It's a relief to not have to go back and redo the whole section. My partner, who never says much, just nodded and said 'about time.' Now we can actually take our lunch break without worrying about it.

Glad to hear the boiler's holding up after that adjustment! It's interesting how a small change in technique can solve a big problem. What tipped you off that too much heat was causing the leaks?

Honestly it took me connecting three different pipes to my basement floor before I noticed the pattern. Every time I cranked the heat past a certain point, I'd hear that telltale hiss. You'd think I'd learn faster, right?
