Snapped a pawn off my favorite chess set after 12 years of use
Had my grandfather's wooden chess set since I was a kid. Last night during a game with my buddy, I went to move my rook pawn and the piece just snapped clean at the base. Superglue didn't hold, so I used a tiny drill bit and a toothpick as a peg to reattach it. It's solid now but the pawn is shorter than the others. Has anyone else had luck repairing old game pieces without ruining the look?

Twelve years is impressive for a pawn to last that long.

Buddy's pawn shop kept a fake Rolex in the window for 14 years.
