My repair of a 30 year old game box took 5 weeks, who knew?

I picked up an old copy of Acquire at a flea market in Portland for $8 and the box was basically held together by tape and hope. I figured a quick reglue job would take an afternoon, but the corners were crushed and the lid had water damage on the back panel. So I spent 5 weeks carefully rebuilding the corners with cardstock, matching the original brown color, and pressing it under heavy books. Has anyone else gone down this rabbit hole restoring a vintage game box, or am I the only one this obsessed?

Five weeks is a lot of time for something that was gonna sit on a shelf anyway. I get the appeal of fixing up old games, but at some point you're just polishing a turd that cost less than a burger. The real value is in playing it, not in making the box look like it just left the factory in 1984. Different strokes, I guess, but I'd have used that time for three actual game nights instead.
