Saw a moving truck outside a foreclosure on my street in Columbus and the driver told me something I can't stop thinking about
I was walking my dog past a house on my street in Columbus last Tuesday when I saw a guy loading a moving truck at 6am, way earlier than you'd expect. I asked if he needed a hand and he said he does this route every month, and that he's seen 4 families on this same block pack up and leave in the past 18 months. He told me most of them waited until the very last minute to ask for help, after the bank notices and the missed payments piled up, instead of calling anyone when things first got tight. It made me wonder how many people around me are quietly holding it together right up until they can't. Has anyone here gone through a sudden move like that, and was there a moment you wish you'd reached out sooner?
Did you ever see that show where people hoard stuff and the house is just packed floor to ceiling? I helped clean out a place like that once and the guy had every bank notice going back three years in a shoebox, never opened a single one.
