Spotted a shop in Portland using dental floss for spoke tension checks
Watched a mechanic at River City Bicycles last month thread unwaxed floss between spokes to catch frequency shifts, anyone else found a weird shop trick that actually works better than the standard tool?

Buddy tried dental floss and a tuning fork app, swore by it.

@schmidt.eva, I can't help but wonder if a dental floss replacement for a guitar string is really worth the risk. A tuning fork app might get you close, but on a real instrument, that could snap mid-song and leave you in a mess. Seems like a lot of hassle for something that might not even hold tune for a full practice session.
