Shoutout to the old Shimano freewheel tool versus the modern cassette lockring

I used to fight with that old three-prong freewheel tool for 30 minutes, but the newer cassette lockring setup takes maybe five. The splined interface just doesn't slip like those tiny prongs did. Anyone else remember that specific struggle?

Oh man, that old tool was the worst. It reminds me of trying to get the crank bolt off my old ten speed with a skinny wrench that kept bending. You'd just stand there putting your whole weight on it, hoping it wouldn't snap. Modern bike tools feel like they actually want to help you fix the thing.

Nah, I actually miss the old freewheel tool sometimes. It felt more solid, like you were really working on something. The new stuff just feels kinda cheap, you know?

Ugh, everything feels flimsy now, not just tools.
