Overheard a customer at my shop in Denver call a chain tool a 'link breaker' and it just stuck with me.
It's a small thing, but it made me realize how our shop slang can sound like total nonsense to someone just trying to get their bike fixed, so now I try to catch myself before I start talking about 'brifters' or 'bar-ends' without explaining.

It's like a secret handshake! That insider language can make a new rider feel totally lost instead of welcomed.

Yeah @the_betty is right, I used to love bike slang actually til it hit me how unwelcoming it can be.
