The 3-month fade gap between two chairs at my shop in Nashville

I've been cutting next to a guy for 6 weeks now and his fades are just cleaner, smoother, no harsh lines. I watched him work one slow Friday and realized he uses a different blade angle on the last pass, almost like he's shaving sideways instead of against. I tried it on my next 4 clients and the blend came out way softer, especially on coarse hair. Has anyone else picked up a weird micro-trick from just staring at someone's hands, or is it just me?

That sideways angle thing sounds weird but honestly makes sense now that I think about it.
