Showerthought: I used to think a hot towel was just a nice extra, but last winter changed my mind.

For years, I'd just use a warm, damp cloth from the sink for my hot towel step. Then, a regular client came in with really dry skin from the cold Chicago weather and asked for something extra. I invested in a proper hot towel cabinet, the kind that steams them, and started using it on everyone for the first minute of the shave. The difference in how the hair softened and the skin reacted was huge, especially on days below freezing. Has anyone else made a small change to their prep that ended up being a bigger deal than they thought?

A good steam towel makes all the difference in the cold.

Overthinking a steam towel? That's like saying you're overthinking oxygen. Some comforts are just non-negotiable when it's freezing out.

Is it really that big of a deal, or are you just overthinking it?
