Just had a chat with an old timer at the shop in Boise about sanitizing clipper blades

He said he just uses hot water and soap. I was shocked. He's been doing it for 30 years and never had an issue. It hit different because I've been spending $15 a month on those blue spray cans for years, thinking it was the only safe way. Now I'm wondering if I've been wasting cash. What's your actual sanitizing routine? Is the spray just a convenience thing or is it really necessary?

My uncle ran a barber shop for decades and swore by a dip in barbicide after a simple soap scrub. He said the blue juice was for peace of mind with the health inspector, not because the soap didn't work. Watched him clean up a nasty cut on a guy's neck once, just soap, water, barbicide, and moved on. Makes you wonder how much of this stuff is just theater for liability.

Ever feel like the blue spray is just a fancy air freshener for your tools?
