Serious question, did the 1/4 inch measuring cup thing fool anyone else?
I was at my mom's place in Dayton last Saturday helping her bake cookies and she grabbed the 1/4 cup scoop for the flour but packed it down flat with the back of a butter knife like it was brown sugar. I told her that was wrong and she said her mother did it that way, so I tried a batch her way and a batch the loose spoon way, and the loose batch came out lighter and way better. I always thought measuring flour was one of those things where close enough was fine, but that packed scoop was basically a whole extra tablespoon of flour per cup. Has anyone else caught a family member packing flour and lived to tell about it?
