My cake was always dry until a stranger at the county fair called me out on my butter temperature
I was baking a vanilla layer cake for our church potluck in June and it came out crumbly as usual. A lady I never met walked up and said my butter was probably too cold when I creamed it, that I should let it sit out for 45 minutes instead of 15. I switched to room temp butter and now my cakes are moist every time. Does anyone else have one specific piece of feedback that flipped their baking game around?

Who cares, it's just cake, not brain surgery.

You genuinely believe the stakes are the same for every cake someone makes?
