Spent 4 hours on a sourdough loaf and forgot to score it
Pulled my boule out of the fridge last Tuesday, flipped it onto parchment, and totally blanked on scoring before tossing it in the Dutch oven. It came out looking like a smooth potato, no ear at all, but the crust still split enough to be edible. Anyone else ever space out on a key step like that?

Done that exact same thing. Took it out thinking "I'll score it right before" then just spaced it completely.

Realize how half of life's screw-ups come from that perfect timing thing that never works out.

I started setting a timer on my phone the second I put something in the fridge to thaw. Like a 2 hour timer, because I know I'll completely forget about it otherwise. Also started keeping a dry erase marker on the fridge door and writing what's defrosting on there in big letters. That way even if I walk past in a daze I see it.
