PSA: my neighbor said he waters his lawn for 45 minutes a day in July, and now I feel like a slacker
We were both out at 7am last Saturday in Phoenix and he mentioned he runs his sprinklers 45 minutes every morning while I do 15 twice a week. I looked it up after and the city extension office says he's using about 3 times what Bermuda grass actually needs in our heat. Has anyone else had a neighbor's lawn routine make them question their own, or is 45 minutes normal in zone 9?
45 minutes every single morning is not watering, that's just giving the grass a bath at that point. Your neighbor is basically running a water park for one guy. I've got Bermuda too and 15 minutes twice a week is plenty once it's established, the roots go deep if you let them. He's probably growing the most expensive mud in Phoenix. Let him brag while his water bill does the crying for him.
