Finally figured out why my tomatoes kept getting blossom end rot after 3 years of trying everything
I used to just water whenever I remembered and threw on some generic fertilizer. Every year half my crop would rot at the bottom. This year I tested my soil and found out my calcium was fine but I was watering inconsistently. Turns out the real problem was irregular watering preventing calcium uptake. Got a simple drip timer for $25 and now I water deep twice a week. First healthy tomatoes I've had since 2021. Anyone else been chasing the wrong problem in their garden?

I read that pH issues lock out calcium, and that sounds exactly like what you went through.

Man that "chasing the wrong problem" thing hit me HARD. I spent two seasons adding lime and calcium supplements to my soil thinking I just needed more calcium, but my tomatoes were rotting even worse. Turns out my pH was way off and the calcium was getting locked out completely. It's so frustrating when you follow all the "common sense" advice and it just makes things worse. I really feel your pain on those years of wasted crops, it takes something out of you watching all that work rot on the vine. Glad you got it sorted with the drip timer though, consistency really is everything with these plants.
