Stuck between the High Sierra Trail and the Tahoe Rim Trail for my first solo trip

I had a week off in early September and couldn't decide between the two. I picked the High Sierra Trail because I wanted to see the big mountains. It was tough, especially the climb over Kaweah Gap, but the view of the Great Western Divide was worth it. Anyone have a good alternative for a 7-day loop with less elevation gain?

Nice pick! For a flatter loop, check out the Timberline Trail around Mt. Hood, it's still gorgeous.

Gotta disagree on calling the Timberline Trail flat. The west side climb up from Ramona Falls is a real grind, and the Eliot Creek crossing can be a serious scramble. It's a beautiful loop for sure, but the elevation changes are no joke, especially with a full pack.

Actually the Timberline Trail is a solid choice for less climbing. The ups and downs are spread out way better than a big pass like Kaweah. You get constant views without one brutal day.
