Pro tip: Water crossing route I found for the John Muir Trail saved me 3 hours
I was trying to cross Evolution Creek last month and the normal ford was way too deep after all that snow melt. Found a log jam about half a mile downstream that let me walk right across without getting wet. Anyone else have a go-to dry crossing for that section?

Grabbed onto a dead branch that snapped and went in up to my waist @keithbennett... always the photo takers who pay the price. Its like how I always trip over my own feet when I try to show off a new dance move at a party. The universe has a way of humbling you right when you start feeling proud of yourself.

Fell in anyway because I was trying to take a cool photo. Next time carry a stick or a hiking pole to test the ground before you step anywhere near the edge. Also keep your phone in a zipped pocket until you are standing on solid ground and ready to actually take the shot. Learned that one after dropping my phone in a creek trying to frame the perfect picture of autumn leaves.
