Took me 6 months to admit I was torqueing cannon plugs by feel instead of using the spec
An old timer at the hangar in Tulsa watched me snug one down and asked to see my torque wrench, and I didn't have a good answer for why it was still in my box. So where do you all land, do you trust the spec on every plug or do the good ones get a calibrated wrist?
Watched a guy do the same thing for years and swore his arm was better than any wrench. Then we had a plug back out on a bird after a few hundred hours and the log showed he'd been the last one in there. Turned out his "calibrated wrist" was running about 20 inch pounds light that whole time. Spec exists because our hands lie to us, especially at the end of a long shift when you're just trying to get done. I still go by feel on oil lines and drain plugs, but cannon plugs get the wrench every time now.
