Just had a nav display go blank on a preflight check in Tampa

It was a Garmin G1000 in a Cessna 172, and the whole screen just cut out right as we were about to start the engine. I had to pull the circuit breaker and power cycle the whole avionics bus to get it back, which took about 15 minutes. Has anyone else seen a G1000 do that from a cold start?

Sounds like a normal glitch to me. My instructor always said if it comes back after a reset, it's just the system waking up grumpy. Not a big deal unless it stays dead.

Actually pretty common with cold avionics.

Oh man, my buddy had his nav screen go totally dark on a flight last winter. Just blanked out over the Rockies. He said it was so cold in the cockpit his coffee steamed up the windshield. Took like twenty minutes of climbing before the thing finally flickered back on. He was sweating bullets the whole time.
