I just cleaned my 500th pitot-static system and realized how many planes that is

That's a crazy number of systems. It makes me think about all the small, repetitive jobs that keep the world running. We never see the person who checks a thousand streetlights or flips ten thousand burgers. Your 500 pitot tubes are like that, a quiet mountain of work. It's easy to forget how much effort goes into the normal stuff we take for granted. That kind of count really shows the scale of it.

Yeah, the "quiet machinery" thing Brian mentioned is so true. It's all that boring, daily stuff that never makes the news. Like, someone has to check each of those 500 tubes, clean them, log the data... that's months of just walking and wiping.

Totally! It's like the whole world runs on invisible labor. We only notice when something breaks, but never see the constant upkeep. Makes you appreciate the quiet machinery of normal life.
