Drain socket finally beat my old Phillips head stubborn streak

For 12 years I fought stripped drain plugs with a chisel and hammer, thinking it was faster than hunting for the right tool. Then last month in Modesto, a Civic's plug rounded off so bad the chisel slipped and I gashed my knuckle over a $3 part. The shop owner tossed me his 3/8" drain socket with the internal teeth, and it grabbed with one click. Now I keep two in my box and honestly use them before the wrench even comes out. Anyone else stubborn about buying specialty tools until the blood tax kicks in?
