The 1998 Civic that came back with a whole new personality
Honestly, this guy brought in a totally stock 1998 Civic for a fender bender repair last month. We fixed the dent and repainted the quarter panel, no big deal. He picked it up, then rolled back in yesterday with the same car looking like a Fast and Furious prop, complete with a huge wing, neon underglow, and a muffler you could hear from three blocks away. Has anyone else had a customer do a full personality swap on a car right after a basic repair?

Saw a forum post once where a guy did the same thing after getting his Corolla's bumper fixed. He said the repair bill was the final push to just go for it and build the car he actually wanted. Maybe your customer had been sitting on those parts for a while.

That "final push" idea makes sense. Did he say anything when he dropped it off, like he was tired of it being plain or saving up for something? I'm curious if the repair itself sparked it, or if it was just the right time.

Reminds me of my buddy who finally installed his coilovers after getting a quote to fix his stock suspension. Said paying to keep it stock felt stupid once he saw the number.
