Talked to a trapper about winter track maintenance

I was out riding last weekend near Grand Rapids and stopped to chat with this old guy running a trap line on a beat-up 2001 Polaris. He told me he never replaces his track until he sees cords showing because he says extra weight slows you down in deep snow. Made me wonder if I've been swapping tracks too early on my sled.

Respectfully, that old trapper is playing with fire. Running a track down to the cords means you're one bad rock or stump from being stranded miles from the truck in the dark. I'd rather spend the money on a new track every couple seasons than risk wrecking a whole weekend or worse.

Makes me wonder how many other things people run past the breaking point just to save a few bucks, @joel_young.
