My HVAC guy said my attic fan was costing me $40 a month, and the numbers backed him up
I always figured running an attic fan all summer was saving me money in my Grant Park house, but the tech showed me my July Georgia Power bill was $310 compared to $268 in June when the fan was off. He said attic fans pull air through your house and can actually push your cooled air right out the vents if you don't have enough intake. I ran it off for the last two months and EMC bills came in at $275 and $281, so he was right and I was stubborn. Anyone else in town tested this or am I just late to the party?
$310 in July, man that attic fan was just throwing your money straight out the roof. My buddy swore by his too until he realized he was basically air conditioning the whole neighborhood.
