Unpopular opinion: That new moon week in October was the best for deep sky shots
I got my clearest shot of the Orion Nebula from my backyard in Flagstaff because the sky was so dark. Anyone else find they plan their whole month around the moon phase now?

My whole calendar is just moon phases and clear night forecasts now.

That's a solid system. My buddy got so into tracking meteor showers last year he started printing out star charts and laminating them. Had a whole binder going. Then his dog ate it, which was kind of a fitting end to the whole project.
