Had to replace a water heater that took 6 hours instead of 2
I figured swapping out a 40-gallon electric water heater would be a simple Saturday job. But when I disconnected the old one, the floor drain was completely clogged with sediment and rust. Then I realized the new unit's thermostat was set way too high from the factory, and it took me forever to find the manual online. The pressure relief valve also ended up being a different thread size than the old one, so I had to run to the hardware store. What was supposed to be a 2-hour swap turned into almost 6 hours of crawling around my basement in Summerville. Has anyone else had a simple repair spiral into a full-day ordeal like that?

Man, that sums up every home repair I've ever tried. Solidarity.

Gotta disagree on this one honestly. Home repairs are half the fun of owning a place. There's something satisfying about figuring it out yourself even when it goes sideways.
