Just realized my compost pile went from stinky sludge to dark crumbly soil in 8 weeks

I started a new compost bin back in April with just kitchen scraps and shredded cardboard. For the first month it was a wet mess that smelled like rotten eggs no matter what I did. Then I started mixing in dried leaves from my neighbor's yard and turning it every 3 days instead of once a week. The smell disappeared and the texture turned into something you'd pay $10 a bag for. Has anyone else had luck fixing a bad compost pile just by changing the brown to green ratio?

Read that browns are the key to keeping the air flowing.

Calling the police is usually a waste of time for this kind of stuff. They don't care about a neighbor's compost pile or a little odor. They'll tell you it's a civil matter and hang up. Probably just makes things worse if anything.
