Rant: I blew $80 on a blu-ray box set that had terrible subtitles
I bought the complete 90s Berserk set from a seller on eBay last month. The discs looked fine but the subtitles were straight up machine translated, like they didn't even check them. I got through 3 episodes before I gave up, half the dialogue made no sense. Now the guy won't refund me either. Has anyone else gotten burned by bootleg anime sets online?

PayPal saved my butt on a similar deal. I ordered a "complete Cowboy Bebop" set and the subtitles were so bad they used "I am a cow" instead of "I am a bounty hunter" for like the whole first episode. I filed a dispute with PayPal right away and they refunded me in less than a week. @julia_jones72 is totally right, these guys bank on you giving up but PayPal doesn't mess around with false advertising. Definitely worth a shot if you paid through them.

Oh man that sucks so bad. I got burned the exact same way with a Gundam box set a few months back. The subtitles were so bad it was like someone ran the script through Google Translate five times and called it a day. I remember characters speaking in weird robot talk and the names kept changing between episodes. Cost me $60 and the guy blocked me when I asked for a refund. These bootleg sellers know exactly what they're doing with that "no returns" policy. It makes me so mad because you just want to enjoy the show and instead you get this garbage. Hope you can dispute it with your bank or Paypal at least.

Dude that's rough! I feel you so hard on this. I got a bootleg set of "Hellsing Ultimate" once and the subtitles were so off that Alucard kept calling himself "Almond" for like three episodes. It was hilarious but also infuriating because I paid $50 for it. Definitely try PayPal or your bank though, I've had luck with PayPal getting my money back even when the seller ghosts you.
