I fell for that "limited edition" Blu-ray scam hard
A month ago I dropped $80 on a supposedly limited run of a 90s anime box set from some sketchy site. They took my money and then nothing showed up for 3 weeks, tracking number was fake. Finally emailed them and got a generic "sorry for the delay" with no real answer. Total waste of cash and now I'm stuck dealing with PayPal for a refund claim. Has anyone else had luck getting money back from these fake anime merch stores?

That "limited edition" line got me too. Same exact thing with a Ghibli bootleg site a few years back. Went straight to PayPal and filed a dispute under "item not received." Uploaded the fake tracking screenshot and the generic email response. Took about two weeks but they refunded me. Make sure you mention the seller stopped responding. That's a red flag PayPal looks for. Next time check the site on r/AnimeDeals first, those guys flag the scams quick.

Did anyone check if the site had a real physical address listed anywhere? Most of these scam stores just put a fake address or copy one from a legit business, but sometimes you can find a P.O. box in a different country if you dig into the Whois data for the domain. I ran the domain through a lookup tool once and found it was registered to someone in China with a totally different phone number than what was on the site. Told PayPal that too and my case got closed in a week. Just something to look at next time before you hand over your money.
