Overheard a lady at United say she never uses local vendors
I was grabbing coffee at United Market on Georgia last Tuesday and overheard a business owner talking to her friend. She said she stopped using Amarillo companies for her supply orders because they charge too much and don't deliver on time. She claimed a Dallas vendor gets her boxes in two days for half the price. That rubbed me wrong because I've been using Amarillo Paper Supply for years and they always come through. Sure, their prices are a little higher, but when I need something rushed they have it ready same day. Have other small business owners here had better luck with out-of-town suppliers or do you stick local?

Man, it's crazy how we do that with everything now though. I was just thinking about this yesterday when I was looking for a mechanic. We all want the cheapest option and fast delivery, but then we complain when the local places close down. It's the same as people ordering everything off Amazon instead of driving to the store in town. You can't have it both ways you know? Sometimes the little extra you pay keeps the person on the other end of the phone actually caring about your order.

Wait, half the price AND two day delivery from Dallas? That math doesn't add up with the shipping costs I've seen. I called around for boxes last year and the cheapest freight quote from Dallas was like 60 bucks on a small order. After gas and their time it's probably not that much cheaper. I bet that lady is counting the sticker price but forgetting the hidden fees.
