Dropped $600 on a custom website for my BBQ sauce biz and got crickets

Hired a local dev in Canyon to build me a slick site last fall. Paid $600 upfront. Site looked great but nobody could find it in search results. Spent another $200 on a basic SEO audit and found out the dev didn't add any meta tags or local listings. Still recovering from that mistake. Anyone else get burned by paying too much for a website that didn't bring in traffic?

Oof, $600 for a site with zero meta tags? That's like buying a billboard in the middle of the desert and wondering why nobody's reading it!

Read an article the other day that said meta tags are like a handshake for search engines. Skip that handshake, and you might as well be invisible. Guess that $600 went straight to the fancy fonts instead.
