Vent: I picked a gravel yard over a concrete patio for my backyard and my neighbors think I'm nuts.

Gravel is a solid choice, honestly. It drains way better after a rain so you don't get a swamp. My buddy did that and his dog loves digging in it, way more fun than boring concrete. Plus you can always change it up later if you want. Your neighbors probably just like everything looking the same.

Ever think about how loud gravel is? My old place had a gravel driveway and every time someone walked on it you could hear it from inside. Might not be a big deal but if you like quiet mornings or have a baby napping, that crunching sound gets old fast. Concrete is silent in comparison.
