My rain gutter fix in Nob Hill turned into a 4 day nightmare

Last month a storm ripped a section of gutter off my place near Central and I called a handyman who quoted $150 to reattach it. He used drywall screws instead of gutter spikes, and by Tuesday the whole thing was sagging so bad water was pouring behind the siding. Anyone else had to rip out a cheap patch job and pay double to get it done right in ABQ?

Gutter spikes are a thing for a reason, but even those are just one part of it. The real fix needs a solid screw into the fascia board, not drywall screws into whatever loose trim is back there. I made a similar mistake once trusting a guy with a cheap quote, and he used deck screws that stripped out in a month. The water damage behind the siding is the scary part, that can rot stuff for years and you wont even see it. Next time look for someone who actually pulls the old gutter down and checks the wood underneath. Better to pay for a real job upfront than have to redo everything after a rain.
