Debate: Should you paint or stain your cedar fence in Albuquerque?

I just had to pick between paint and stain for my backyard fence off Central Ave. Paint looks cleaner but chips fast in our sun, while stain fades but is easier to touch up. I went with a solid stain last month because a neighbor warned me paint peels after two summers here. So far it's holding up okay, but I wonder if paint would've looked better longer. Anyone have experience with either option in this climate?

Heard from a guy out in Rio Rancho who painted his cedar fence and it looked terrible after two years. Alligator cracking is brutal here. Solid stain seems like the smarter play for Albuquerque sun.

Rio Rancho sun is no joke... my neighbor's painted fence looks like a snake skin after two summers here. Solid stain really does hold up way better in our UV.
