Took a chance on a $300 panel tester and it paid off fast

I was always the guy who just used a multimeter and guessed on panel faults. But after chasing a false alarm loop for 6 hours on a Honeywell Vista 20P in Dayton last month, I finally caved and bought a ProLite PL-2000 tester. That thing dialed the bad zone in under 5 minutes. Has anyone else found one of those pricey diagnostic tools that actually saves you money in the long run?

Man, what took you so long? I shelled out for a similar tester two years ago after I spent a whole afternoon swapping relays on a dead alarm panel that turned out to be a bad wire crimp. That thing paid for itself in one job, no joke. Still feels like robbery paying that much for a tool that just blinks at you though.

Totally feel you on the "paying for a fancy blinker" bit lol. It's kinda like how we all buy those expensive phone cases that are basically just plastic but somehow feel like they're saving us from a thousand dollar mistake.
