A customer told me my motion sensor placement was wrong - I fought it for weeks

Had a customer in Austin last month say I put a motion sensor too close to the AC vent. Told me it would false alarm from the warm air blowing. I argued with them for 20 minutes about detection zones and sensitivity settings. After 3 false alarms in one week, I moved it 8 feet down the wall and it's been solid since. Has anyone else had to eat crow on a placement call? How do you handle customers who point out stuff like this?

Wait, you fought a customer for 20 minutes over an AC vent?

Fought a customer for 20 minutes over an AC vent" - that's the kind of thing where you know within the first 30 seconds it's going nowhere but you're already in too deep to back out. I once spent a whole hour with a guy who insisted his car's AC was broken because it only blew cold air on one side. Showed him the dual zone controls three times. He kept saying "no, I know how that works." Eventually I just set it for him and told him not to touch anything. He left happy.
