Serious question, does anyone else almost sign off on a torque value they did not actually verify?
Last Thursday at our hangar in Bakersfield I was doing a nose gear actuator swap on a King Air and caught myself about to sign the task card off without re-checking the torque on the four attach bolts. My lead, Marcus, walked by and asked me to show him the wrench reading, and I was off by 30 inch-pounds from spec. I have been turning wrenches for 9 years and that was the closest I have come to pencil-whipping a card. How do you all keep yourselves honest on the boring repeat jobs where nothing ever seems to go off?
