Is it just me or does everyone crowd the basket too much?

I keep seeing pictures in this group where people pack chicken wings or fries right on top of each other like they're in a deep fryer. The whole point of an air fryer is hot air circulation, and when I tried that once, everything came out soggy and uneven in about 20 minutes. Has anyone else had to learn the hard way that less is more with these things?

Learned that the hard way when my fries turned into limp little sad soldiers.

Man those sad soldier fries are the worst. My last batch looked like they'd given up on life halfway through the cook time. Had to eat them with a fork just to feel something. Should have just tossed them in the air fryer for a few more minutes but I got impatient. At least they had some salt to keep them company in their final moments.
