Honestly, I've started putting the whole assembly inside a clear plastic bag. You get your hands in there with the tools, but if the spring flies, it just hits the bag and drops. Saved me so much crawling around on the floor. A gallon freezer bag is perfect for most camera bodies.

Been there, it's a sensory overload for sure.
