That mold example is perfect. You seal it behind a wall and think it's gone, but it just grows in the dark, eating the wood and making the air musty. Years later, someone has to tear it all out, and the repair bill is ten times bigger. Same with old wiring tucked away or pipes wrapped in tape. The shortcut fix almost always turns into a huge, expensive tear out job for the next person.
