Our foreman's simple idea for daily safety tips surprised me
Last week, our boss asked each person to give one safety tip before we start the day. I thought it might slow us down, but it has been great. For example, a coworker shared a way to test for voltage without assuming the circuit is dead. We used that the next day on a retrofit and found a hot wire nobody knew about. It kept everyone safe. Now, the whole crew looks forward to sharing these little bits of knowledge. It feels like we are all watching out for each other more. I learned that taking a minute to talk can really help a team gel and stay sharp on the job.
