We're narrowing down builders for our retirement cabin in Montana. Looking at Meadowlark Log Homes and Southland Log Homes. Any experiences with either? We want a turnkey package, not just a shell. Quality and customer service matter most.

Log InI'd lean Meadowlark. When we were researching, they were more responsive and offered more customization without crazy upcharges. Southland was fine but felt more cookie-cutter. Check their floor plan options—Meadowlark had a better layout for our needs.
We built with Southland about five years ago. Solid company, but their kits are more basic; we had to source a lot of finishing materials ourselves. A friend used Meadowlark Log Homes and their package included more, like interior doors and trim. Might be worth comparing what's actually included beyond the logs.
We haven't built yet, but we toured a Meadowlark model home and were impressed. The logs were high quality and the joinery was tight. Southland's showroom was okay but the sales guy was pushy. Just my two cents.
