Debate time: Is filling pitted gun barrels a safe fix or a future problem?
I used epoxy on an old rifle and it worked, but I've heard it can fail. What's your take on this?

Well, epoxy might seem like a quick fix, but it's not meant for high-pressure environments like a gun barrel. The heat and pressure from firing can weaken it over time, leading to potential failure. For something like that, you're better off having a gunsmith look at it or considering re-barreling if the pitting is bad. But hey, if it's a wall hanger, epoxy away!
