Why does nobody talk about the guilt behind using deepfake voice apps for fun?

My friends wanted to use an app to mimic a celebrity's voice for a silly video, and I almost went along with it. I thought about how this tech could be used for harm, like scams or fake news, and it made me pause. I suggested we just use our own voices instead, and everyone agreed after a quick chat. It felt good to choose ethics over a cheap laugh, even for something small.

What if you heard your own voice faked in a message? I once got a clip made as a joke, and it felt weirdly violating even though it was harmless. That stuff can mess with your head more than you'd expect.

Totally get that violated feeling, had a buddy do the same thing to me last year. What worked was telling him straight up how it messed with my sense of reality, ever had that happen? Like, why does hearing your own voice used like that feel so personal? Setting that boundary helped me shake off the weirdness after a few days. Makes you think about how thin the line is between a joke and something that really gets under your skin.
