Trusting my hands over the timer fixed our mold sand
Mixed sand by the book for years. Castings always had pits. One shift, I ignored the clock. Went by how it felt in my palms. Now every pour comes out clean.

Seems like a stretch to blame the timer for years of bad castings. Foundry humidity changes day to day, and raw sand batches are never exactly the same. Your hands might just be catching a variable the rigid schedule missed. Could be you finally got a consistent silica shipment that week.

Blaming the silica shipment is a new one. That timer has been running fast for years, but sure, let's thank perfect sand. My casts were trash every afternoon, not just on humid days. Fixed the timer and suddenly have perfect molds, what a weird coincidence.
