Heard a familiar tune at a roadside diner and it unlocked a childhood show memory

It was the theme from 'Mystery Island'. Does anyone else recall this show from the early 90s?

Remember reading that show had a weird time slot, like Sunday mornings. The puppet news segment with the gorilla actually stuck with me for years. Hard to find full episodes now though.

Oh man, the puppet news segment with the gorilla! That whole era of kids TV had such weird, handmade looking puppets. It reminds me of another show that had a talking tree puppet that used to honestly freak me out a little. Something about the way its bark moved for a mouth gave me weird dreams for a week. Those shows really knew how to make an impression, for better or worse!

Absolutely! That whole era had a creepy charm to it. I still remember a puppet with these huge, glassy eyes that would just stare into your soul. They really did leave a mark on you.
