Overheard a guy at the drive-thru call a McDouble 'the best value in human history'

I was in line at the McDonald's on 5th Street last Tuesday, and the car ahead of me had their window down. The guy ordering told his friend, 'For a buck fifty, the McDouble is the best value in human history, better than penicillin.' It made me laugh, but then I actually thought about it. Is there any other fast food item that gives you that much for so little money? I'm not totally sold, but it got me thinking about real value meals versus just cheap food.

My buddy swears by the Taco Bell bean burrito, says it's a full meal for like a dollar. He might have a point, but it's hard to beat that McDouble protein hit for the price. Guess value just depends on what you're hungry for.

Nah, @the_thomas, that bean burrito is just cheap filler. The McDouble actually keeps you full with real protein.

Real protein? That McDouble patty is mostly fat and salt with a little meat. The bean burrito has actual fiber that fills you up longer, plus it doesn't make you feel gross after. Protein isn't the only thing that matters for staying full.
