That seamstress at the swap meet who called my pattern 'ambitious'
So I was at the Rose Bowl swap meet back in March, just browsing fabric stalls, and this older woman running a booth saw me eyeing a heavy linen. I mentioned I was trying to draft my own wrap dress pattern from scratch. She just squinted at my quick sketch on my phone and said, 'That dart placement is fighting the grain line, honey.' Then she pulled a scrap of muslin and spent five minutes showing me how to pivot the dart a half inch to the left. I actually tried her fix when I got home and the bodice finally laid flat. Has anyone else had a random stranger completely save your project with one simple tip?

Oh wow, that's a great story. Those little tweaks from seasoned sewists are pure gold, honestly. It's amazing how one tiny shift can make or break a whole project.

I read somewhere that most sewing problems come down to grain lines being off by less than a centimeter (which blew my mind). That lady basically saved you hours of frustration with one tiny shift.
