Isn't this debate just a microcosm of how we value art versus utility in everything now? Like, we're constantly told to be productive and practical, but then we idolize artists who break all the rules, lol. It feels like avant-garde fashion is stuck between being a wearable protest and just becoming another commodity. You see the same thing in architecture or product design, where innovation gets watered down for mass appeal. Maybe the real struggle is whether art should serve the audience or challenge them to see differently.

Always the same debate. Art wants to shake things up, but then we gotta wear it to the grocery store. Pretty sure my sweatpants have never challenged anyone's worldview.
